Fulham captain Tom Cairney believes the first half at Brentford was one of Fulham's better performances away from home, but that the Denis Odoi red card changed the game.

Fulham took the lead through Neeskens Kebano when a nice move of flowing football saw Ryan Fredericks put the ball across goal for the forward to put away, but Brentford got back into it towards the end of the second half when Ollie Watkins tore through the midfield to play in Sergi Canos, who stuck the ball under David Button.

Odoi was sent off a second yellow after Brentford's second, and after that Fulham didn't get a sniff as the Bees controlled the game, with Watkins putting the finishing touches on the game with a third goal.

And the Fulham skipper is disappointed that his side didn't take their chances and kill the game off a bit more during the first half.

He said: "I don't know, it was going okay the first half, a bit disappointed with their goal and we thought it would be a good game second half but obviously the red card changed the game.

"Maybe away from home it was [one of our better performances] in the first half, we could've taken our chances a bit better and killed the game a bit more, but I don't know, it's just one of those frustrating games.

"We have to go and play our next game and win next week."
