Fulham boss Chris Coleman confirmed club captain Luis Boa Morte has signed a new five-year contract which will keep him at Craven Cottage until 2010.

Fulham captain Luis Boa MorteBoa Morte's future was in doubt during the last two transfer windows with Newcastle interested in the Portuguese international but the 28-year-old has committed his long-term future to Fulham.

"Boa signed the new contract just before he went away for the international break.

Boa has been here five years already and he wanted to sign for five more years," said Coleman.

"There's no get-out clause in his contract.

If someone comes in and offers ridiculous money for him then sure, every player has his price.

"But there's nothing in the contract which allows him to leave if we get a big offer

"He's played 200 games in five years which has worked out at roughly 40 games a season.

"We're not in the habit of selling our best players and we wanted to plan for the future.

"He's a big part of that. He can be the captain for the next five years if he shows the same consistency and level of performance he has done already."
