Luis Boa Morte has moved to end speculation about his Fulham future by announcing that he's content at Craven Cottage and intends to see out the rest of his contract.

Fulham's skipper, 28, was a target for Newcastle boss Graeme Souness, who tabled two offers last month - with the second thought to be in the region of £5million.

With the transfer window closing tomorrow, Fulham appear to have fought off competition for their prized asset once and Boa Morte's declaration of loyalty will have given further encouragement to boss Chris Coleman.

He said: "I don't want to talk about the transfer speculation.

"I'm totally committed to Fulham, as I've always been.

"I've always been happy with all my team-mates, the staff and the supporters."

"I have three years left on my contract with Fulham and, so I hope to be at the club for those three years and to be happy in my football. T

"The fans' support also means a lot to me."

Coleman made it clear he would do everything in his power to keep Boa Morte, especially after the departures of Edwin Van der Sar and Andrew Cole.

A major stroke was giving Boa Morte the club captaincy.

And Boa Morte is taking the role very seriously: "Being named as captain has been a huge honour for me, and I'm very much looking forward to my responsibilities this season.

"I'll give my team-mates a hand when its needed just as I'm sure they will for me.

"And off the pitch I'll always be around for the players if they need me.

"I want to build a link between them and the manager."
