West Ham boss pleads for transfer funds

Fulham will travel across London on Monday evening for a live t.v. clash with West Ham.

Prior to the Cottager's visit Hammers' boss Alan Pardew has pleaded with his board to release funds to sign Norwich's Dean Ashton.

The powerful forward has sparked wide interest from a host of Premiership sides and it is reported that West Ham have identified him as their number one target.

Pardew wants to add Ashton to his young squad but will need the backing of his board to raise the £7 million offer which Norwich have rejected.

The Hammers boss insists he is very happy with his current set of players but feels new personnel is required and a striker is his primary goal.

He said: "I think the amount of pressure we create and the amount of crosses that come into our box, I'd like to have one in my pool who is more of a threat at crosses."

And the under-21 international seems the perfect fit and would be willing to move now since the Canaries' terrible early season form may well have cost them promotion back to the Premiership.
