West Ham hope to overturn the red card shown to Paul Konchesky on Saturday.
The Hammers have submitted a claim for wrongful dismissal to the Football Association, freeing the defender to play on Boxing Day.
Hammers defender Konchesky - who can now play against Portsmouth - was shown a straight red.
He was adjudged to be the last man when he brought down Fulham's Wayne Routledge in the closing stages of the scoreless draw at Craven Cottage.
West Ham are required to provide the necessary submission for the appeal on Wednesday and the cases will be heard by a disciplinary commission on Thursday.
