Weekend Premiership fixtures, results ....

last updated Saturday 02nd November 2002, 7:14 PM
After the delights of downtown Zagreb Fulham are back to the Premiership on Sunday with a home clash against last season's Champions. Earlier in the season Arsenal's Manager was reported as having said that his squad could go through the season unbeaten. As we now know this is impossible as Arsenal have since suffered back to back defeats in the Premiership, away at Everton and at home to Blackburn. On Sunday The Cottagers, fresh from a stunning 3-0 victory away in Zagreb, will be aiming to keep the same shape and effort going so that they can ensure that The Gunners suffer an unprecedented third consecutive lose .

On Saturday last season's surprise package, Bolton slipped into deeper trouble with a 3-1 away thrashing at Birmingham made more aggravating by the sending off of Ricardo Gardner for 2 yellows. West Ham, just 4 points below Fulham, after taking all three points from our recent meeting, lost 2-0 to a Liverpool side looking like serious champion contenders.Southampton, 4-2 conquerors of Fulham last weekend and now one point in front of us, held Man Utd to a 1-1 draw until the closing moments of the game when little Forlan got his second goal from open play and won the three points. West Brom, 5 points below Fulham despite beating us on our visit to The Hawthorns, got beaten 2-1 at home by an improving Man City whixh leaves the Baggies deep mire down in the relegation zone.

On Sunday Blackburn, fresh from their defeat in Glasgow, should be the victors in their home game with Aston Villa, who are heading south fast under the leadership of Mr. Taylor. In South London The Valley will be hosting a clash between Charlton and Sunderland with Sergeant Wilko still looking for his first win. Terry Venables' poor Leeds side will have the pleasure of a visit from Mr. Moyes and his Everton squad who could go into the top 6 if they win. Tottenham welcome The Blues in the hope of actually beating them for once.

Monday sees the last Premiership game of the weekend and it is an "exciting" northern clash between Newcastle and Middlesbrough.

After having to watch the West Ham and Southampton debacles we deserve a good Fulham performance against Arsenal. Hopefully we will see it.
