Trends and facts for Wigan game

last updated Friday 28th October 2005, 10:27 AM
WIGAN are 4th with 19 points and their highest achievable position after Match Day 11's games is 2nd while the lowest could be 8th.
  • WIGAN have made the most amazing introduction to their debut season in the Premiership. Paul Jewell's side have won six of their nine games, taken 19 points from the last 21, and face Fulham looking for a fifth successive victory in the highest League and seventh in a row in all competitions. Athletic's points return from the last six games is identical to Chelsea's.
  • Three points from the first Premiership game to kick off this weekend would see Wigan return to second in the table for 15 minutes at least. They would maintain the top two berth if Charlton and Spurs drop points, and it would make the Latics the highest placed promoted club after the first 10 games of a Premier League campaign since Nottingham Forest in 1994/95. It would also mean they had maintained the second best start ever to a Premiership season by a promoted club. Only Forest, who accumulated 24 points after the first 10 games 11 years ago have done better.
  • This is the 25th League meeting of these two clubs, but their first in the Premiership.
  • Won eight and drawn two in all competitions, since losing 1-0 at Charlton in the Premiership on 20 August.
  • Won six and drawn one of the last seven top flight engagements.
  • Gone 15 Premiership and Championship games since conceding more than a single goal in a match (1-2 defeat, home to West Ham on 2 April).
  • Completed 37 Premiership and Championship fixtures since losing by more than a single goal.
  • Plymouth were the last side to inflict more than a single goal defeat on Wigan. They won 0-2 at the JJB on 6 November last year.
  • Seven of the nine engagements in the highest echelon have either been won or lost by one goal.
  • The last three games have produced progressively improved victory margins. They won 1-0, at home to Newcastle and 0-2 away to Villa, both in the Premiership, then 3-0 home to Watford in the Carling Cup midweek.
  • Second in the Premiership's "Last Six Current Form" table with 16 points, trailing Chelsea' on goal difference.
  • Yet to concede more than a single goal in a Premiership match.
  • Kept clean sheets in three of the last four top flight engagements.
  • Scored in each of the last seven Premier League encounters, after failing to find the net in the first two.
  • Yet to score more than two goals in a Premiership fixture.
  • Gone 11 League and Championship matches since a no score draw.
  • If he plays, Jimmy BULLARD will extend his newly broken club record to 119 consecutive League appearances.
  • If involved, Henri CAMARA will be making his 50th appearance in English top flight football.
FULHAM are 14th with 9 points and their highest achievable position after Match Day 11's games is 11th while the lowest could be 18th.
  • FULHAM have only taken maximum points off Everton and Liverpool so far this season, but have not managed a victory on the road. Defeat could possibly see them back in the bottom five.
  • The Cottagers defeated Liverpool 2-0 at Craven Cottage last weekend, but have not managed back-to-back victories in 10 outings since defeating Blackburn (a) and Norwich (h) in the last two matches of last season. Should they defeat the Latics, Fulham will have racked up 200 all time Premier League points and 200 victories in top flight football.
  • Fulham have not won in five visits to Wigan. They've drawn three and lost two since a 1-3 triumph in the third League level on 1 September 1992.
  • Kept one clean sheet in six Premier League outings.
  • Failed to score once in the last nine Premiership matches.
  • Completed seven Premiership matches since losing by more than a single goal (1-4, away to Arsenal on 24 August).
  • Completed nine top flight matches since a no score draw (home to Birmingham on the opening day, 13 August).
  • Without a victory away from home so far this term.
  • Picked up two points from the 15 available so far this season away from Craven Cottage.
  • Won only one of the last 12 Premiership matches on the road.
  • Lost on their Premiership travels eight times in the last 12 trips.
  • Not kept a clean sheet in 16 away Premiership games since the 0-1 win at Norwich on 4 December.
  • The block-out at Carrow Road was Fulham's only clean sheet in 24 League games on the road.
  • Failed to score in one of the last nine on their Premiership travels (the 1-0 defeat at Spurs on 26 September).
  • Scored one goal in each of seven of the last nine away League encounters.
  • Scored more than a single goal once in 12 away top tier contests (1-3 victory at Blackburn on 7 May).
  • If he plays, Mark PEMBRIDGE will be making his 50th appearance for the Thames-side club.
