Fulham are plotting a January swoop for Danny Simpson after failing to secure his signature last summer.
The 25-year-old sparked a flurry of speculation about his future after he rejected a fresh contract from Newcastle last season.
Simpson's current deal runs out next summer but the earlier offer that he snubbed still remains on the table.
Fulham, QPR and Reading were all linked with a move for former Manchester United youngster Simpson (above) during the close season.
But a deal failed to materialise and Toon owner Mike Ashley may now decide to cash in on his right-back, rather than allowing him to leave for free in the summer.
The Cottagers' interest in Manchester-born defender Simpson has not diminished and boss Martin Jol could swoop.
Sources close to Simpson have indicated a switch to the capital now strongly appeals to the player due to his burgeoning relationship with pop star girlfriend Tulisa Contostavlos.
