Tigana in late for Hignett

last updated Sunday 09th July 2000, 12:00 PM
FULHAM have made a late bid to hijack Craig Hignett's move from Barnsley to Blackburn.

We understand that Rovers offer of pounds 2.2m is below a late bid from Jean Tigana, Fulham's new boss who is prepared to go up to pounds 2.6m.

Hignett, age 30, scored 19 goals in Division One last season and was interesting Everton but they dropped out when the bidding passed pounds 2m.

Barnsley would clearly prefer to take the higher bid but Hignett may not fancy a move south. The move to Blackburn still looks favourite.
