Newcastle
Newcastle will look to kick-start their season against Fulham on Saturday, with Michael Owen primed to make his debut for The Magpies.
Newcastle have just one point and no goals to their name from four encounters this season, but the expectant Tyneside hoards will be hoping for an upturn in fortunes on Saturday.
Albert Luque has been passed fit, having picked up a minor knock on international duty, and he will look to provide the ammunition for Owen and Shearer on Saturday.
Kieron Dyer, Emre and Lee Bowyer miss out due to injury, but Scott Parker will look to provide the stability in midfield which will allow Luque and Owen to strut their stuff, while Geordie Lee Clark will be desperate to feature against his former club.
Nolberto Solano's return to Newcastle did not receive the coverage it should have due to the hysteria surrounding Owen, and the Peruvian will have to sit in the shadows for a little while longer due to suspension.
Titus Bramble has overcome the fractured elbow he picked up in pre-season and is pressing for a starting place, but it remains to be seen if Souness pulls Jean-Alain Boumsong from the line of fire following his indifferent display against Manchester United.
As ever, though, defence will be at the back of the mind on Tyneside and all their frailties will be forgotten if Owen can spark Newcastle's season at the weekend. Alex Livie for SkySport
