Moritz Volz could struggle to regain his first-team spot, after Liam Rosenior impressed as his deputy against United. Craven Cottage chief Chris Coleman acknowledged: Liam has done very well.
I congratulated him after the Manchester United game, because I thought it was a great debut. Liam has now made it hard for me to pick the team for Monday night. I have not spoken to him or to Moritz about that yet.
Coleman has also warned defender Zat Knight he has a tough task to regain his first-team place this season. The 24-year-old has been a key member of the clubs defence for more than a year, but was forced out of Coleman's starting line-up when he was sent off in Fulham's home defeat by Blackburn Rovers last month.
Ian Pearce took over alongside Zesh Rehman in central defence in Knight's absence through suspension - and Coleman sees no reason to split that pairing after watching his team claim a win and a draw from their next two Barclays Premiership matches.
Zat was having a bit of a bad time of it and he didn't have a good game against Blackburn, even if you disregard the sending-off, Coleman added. Sometimes players need to have a rest, and I think this was the right time to leave Zat out. Ian has come into the side and he and Zesh have done well together. You have to remember that Zat has been first-choice centre-back for 18 months, and he is only 24. A few games out will give him time to reflect, and I am sure he will come back much stronger for the time out of the side.
Former Addicks midfielder Claus Jensen and forward Luis Boa Morte are still at least a fortnight away from returning to contention after injury.
