Steve Marlet has asked for clear-the-air talks with new Fulham manager Chris Coleman.

The 29-year-old French striker, signed from Lyon for £11.5m in 2001, has been repeatedly linked with a move away from London.

He has only scored 18 goals in two seasons and Fulham are reportedly considering selling the forward in an attempt to ease their financial problems.

But Marlet, who still has three years to run on his contract, wants to know where he will fit into Coleman's plans for next season.

"I have heard the stories and of course I worry about what will happen," said Marlet.

"But I haven't even had a meeting with the manager yet, so I am still at Fulham.

"I would like to set up a meeting after the Confederations Cup, and I want to stay because I have a fighting spirit and I have something to prove to the club and to the fans.

"But if they say they want me to go, then I will accept the decision."

Marlet is currently with the national team, who are defending their Confederations Cup title in France.
