The 11m pound import from Lyon has been in fantastic form for the Cottagers,
after recovering from a knee injury, and is making a real impact in West
London.
However, the World Cup hopeful has revealed that the onus on him to score
goals is something new to his game.
"It is true that I was never considered as the number one striker,"
he revealed. "In Lyon, Sonny Anderson had this role. But here I really
came for that, to score. "Even if I am playing well, I know it is
not enough. "I think it is a good pressure, above all when you score!
"I am still able to play on the flank, to come back and defend,
it is in my culture from Auxerre. "But, in Fulham, I must only think
to score. It is the first time in my career that I have so much pressure
on me. "For the first time, I am supposed to be the major striker.
"As for Fulham, I think sixth place is not impossible to reach.
Except against Arsenal, we have never been completely dominated."
The in-form attacker admits to finding times tough when he was recovering
from the serious injury."During my injury, I spent eight or nine hours
a day in the club," he told L'Equipe. "It helped me to come back
quicker. Despite the defeat against Manchester United, this goal was important
for me."With my injury, I was really frustrated, especially with my
transfer fee."Each time people talked about me, they talked about that,
and I couldn't show anything on the pitch."
