Fulham assistant manager Christian Damiano believes new signing Steve Marlet can emulate compatriot Thierry Henry and take the Premiership by storm.

Marlet, a club record £11.5 million signing from Lyon, made his Fulham debut in the debut on Saturday against Henry's Arsenal.

Although the 28-year-old failed to make any real impact during the 3-1 reverse, Damiano is confident Marlet possesses the ability to fire in the goals to aid Fulham's charge for domestic honours.

He said: "Steve Marlet is a player who is at the same level as players like Thierry Henry and David Trezeguet and we have big hopes for him at Fulham.

"He is older than the likes of Henry but he is just starting to show his full potential now, and playing in the Fulham team in the Premiership will be fantastic for his progress."
