Fulham’s Steve Finnan has signed a new
five-year contract, which will keep the Republic of Ireland defender at
Craven Cottage until 2006.
The highly-rated rightback signed on Monday morning before the squad left
for their Luxembourg training camp.
Finnan expressed his happiness with the deal:
“I’m delighted to have signed up for five years. Fulham is a club
that’s going places and I want to be part of that. We’ve got some
excellent players and a top class management team.
“Obviously it’s nice that the management feel I deserve a five-year
deal, personally it’s a great confidence booster.”
Finnan joined Fulham in November 1998, when Kevin Keegan signed him from
Notts Country for £600,000. He now joins the likes of Sean Davis,
Luis Boa Morte and Louis Saha on long-term deals as manager Jean Tigana
starts to formulate his plans for the top-flight.
