Bolton Wanderers' Sean Davis could be struggling to play again this season, manager Gary Megson has revealed.

Davis made only three starts after arriving from Portsmouth in the summer before suffering a knee injury.

Megson said: "Sean is going to be out for a long spell but whether it will be for the season only time will tell. It will be touch and go."

The former Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, 30, appears resigned to missing the rest of the campaign.

"I know I am not going to play again this season," Davis said.

"To have had an injury for this long, I would rather see it out and be 100 per cent for pre-season."

"Hopefully, if everything goes right, I should be back in April but for me, I don't want to rush it."

Meanwhile, Israel midfielder Tamir Cohen could return in time for the Trotters' Barclays Premier League match against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday. He sat out the defeat by Blackburn Rovers at the weekend because of a groin problem.

Ricardo Gardner has not trained all week but is expected to shrug off a calf strain and make the fixture.

Jlloyd Samuel took a knock in the derby as well but like Gardner should be in the frame to face Fulham.
