LOUIS Saha could be the United title run-in ace up Sir Alex Ferguson's sleeve.

A spring contribution from the injury-troubled French striker could wipe out the misery of 12 months ago.

A year ago tomorrow Saha scored at Reading in the FA cup replay but it proved to be his last goal of the campaign.

His person finale amounted to just three sub appearances as hamstring and knee problems wrecked the final three months of term. Now having gone through injury hell again this season his scoring return as a sub at Newcastle last Saturday could have come just in time to add a different dimension to the Reds attack.

"Louis Saha coming back is a big bonus for us," said United boss Fergie.

"He gives us strength and penetration and is different to everyone else. It was good that Louis has come back and scored."

United prevailed in their hunt for the Premiership crown last season despite a tough finale losing at Portsmouth, drawing at home to Middlesbrough and surviving a dramatic match at Everton.

Fergie is predicting it will be as nerve jangling again, and said: "You have to understand what a run-in is like. Last season and there were some real nail-biters but the important thing is we have a good strong squad."
