Fulham's new midfielder Ryan Williams jumped at the chance to move up to the Premier League with the Craven Cottage outfit after joining from crisis club Portsmouth on transfer deadline day.
The winger is likely to be limited to development squad games for the moment as he gets used to the step up in quality and he explained how the deal came about.
"I think it was exactly a week before transfer deadline day when my agent said Fulham were interested," Williams said.
"It came closer to the final day [of the month] and they asked me to play a game so I gave it a go. I played and played well so then Fulham wanted to sign me and I was really happy."
The 18-year-old had broken into the first-team squad at Portsmouth, who are likely to re-enter administration in the coming weeks, but the lure of the Premier League was too much.
"I jumped at the chance to play for Fulham," Williams added.
"They're a Premier League club and the opportunity to play at this level doesn't come around very often."
"I know that I've got to keep my feet on the ground and just play as many games as possible and work hard.
"Hopefully then the rest will come. It's a good group within the Reserves and I'm just itching to play as much as possible."
