  • Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill says former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer should replace Steve McClaren as England boss. (News of the World)

  • Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster and former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier have joined the list of people linked with England. (Sunday Telegraph)


  • FA chief executive Brian Barwick says he will have talks with England skipper John Terry to emphasise what he expects from the players in the future in the wake of the failure to qualify for Euro 2008. (News of the World)


  • Barwick will have to move quickly if he is to secure the services of Jurgen Klinsmann, as the former Germany coach weighs up a list of offers from Europe. (Mail on Sunday)
