Ref's go easy on Fulham
last updated Thursday 01st March 2001, 5:59 PM
It may be a trifle too early
to be sure but there are signs that Referees have been told to make amends
for all the Fulham bashing they have indulged in so far this season.
Fulham players have been yellow carded faster than any team in English professional
football, on average a yellow card every 5.5 fouls, which, as can be seen
in the graph below, compares to 8.5 for our promotion rivals. The result
of this imbalance is that we have 21 more yellow cards than our promotional
rivals

The
Fouls per Yellow card graph above shows the average number of fouls
per yellow cards of Fulham, our promotional rivals and the whole of

During February Referees seemed to deal with Fulham more positively as,
despite penalising our players more frequently than in any previous month,
Referees yellow carded our players at an incredible low rate of one yellow
per 9.9 fouls. This is nearly twice as good as normal

Hopefully we can get the same treatment from now until the end of the season
although the improvement is still not enough to compensate for all the unfairness
experienced during the season so far. |
