Premier weekend game details 20:22.03.2004

last updated Friday 19th March 2004, 2:55 PM

It's that time of year again the Premier team of Fulham is visiting it's spin off squad at Fulham Broadway. Regardless of the result, and historically it will be a major upset for Fulham take any points from the game, Fulham fans everywhere are just glad that Chairman Mo has got The Cottagers back up on level terms with the Blues.

In Southwest London families and friends will be facing the danger of long term upset depending on who wins and how the game plays out with the women folk praying for a draw without any disputes on the pitch in order to have a some peace and quiet. The leafy suburbs will be strangely quiet while the Super Whites go into battles with Blues. COME ON YOU FULHAM.

Elsewhere ......
Eight Premiership games take place on Saturday, one on Sunday and one on Monday. Arsenal will set a new Premiership record of 31 consecutive games unbeaten if they avoid defeat by visiting Bolton but it could be a spicy encounter - there have been four red cards in the last six league meetings between the clubs and one in each of the last two clashes at Highbury.

Blackburn may struggle to find the net at Aston Villa as they have failed to score in four of their five matches against the Midlanders since Graeme Souness took charge. Furthermore, Dwight Yorke, who had a training ground bust-up with Souness, has not scored in the seven Premiership games he has played against his old club. It should be a tight affair at The Walkers Stadium as Leicester look to build on last week's win at Birmingham and try and put their La Manga nightmare behind them by beating Everton. Ten of the 15 Premiership meetings between the two sides have ended in draws while Les Ferdinand has cracked 16 goals against Everton during his Premiership career.

Wolves' Paul Ince returns to Liverpool with the unwelcome record of being booked more times than any other Premiership player this season (11). Wolves' last away win in the top-flight at Liverpool's home was back in 1984 but they will be striving to make things difficult for Gerard Houllier's men. Man United may have conceded more goals than any other team (14) since Rio Ferdinand started his ban, and Spurs are the second-best Premiership side on form in 2004, but Ruud van Nistelrooy could be the man to watch. The Dutch striker has scored in every one of his five appearances against the North Londoners.

Middlesbrough welcome Birmingham who may not be the easiest team on the eye - they have launched more long balls than any other side (36% of their passes have been over 25 yards in distance) and they have been fouled more often than any other Premiership team (463) and seen six opponents sent off this term. Newcastle have conceded one goal in each of their last seven league games while visiting Charlton have not conceded a goal to a team from the North East this season. This is a crucial fixture which should go some way to pointing to which of the clubs has a better chance of snatching the final Champions League place.

Portsmouth's Teddy Sheringham could be the man to win this local derby as no other side has been on the receiving end from the former England striker more than Southampton as he has nine Premiership goals against them. The visiting Southampton have had only seven different scorers in 2003/2004 - the fewest of any Premiership team. Goals are on the menu at Elland Road as Leeds try and breathe life into a flagging Premiership campaign that is threatening to send them down. Leeds have kept only one clean sheet in their last 15 games but Man City's record is even worse - they have a solitary shut-out from their last 18 matches.

If the weekend's results go well Fulham can move up two places to 7th and if they go poorly Fulham can drop two places to 11th.
