Premier weekend game details 20:21.09.2003

last updated Friday 19th September 2003, 9:36 AM
Fulham fans are looking forward to a rare home game with their beloved squad on Saturday. It is hard to believe that Fulham's last home game was over a month ago when they wacked Boro 3-2 ho, ho. But despite being on their travels for 3 games, and their appalling away record last season, The Cottagers' results so far have enabled them to take 9th place in the Premiership. Chris Coleman's squad should therefore be brimming with confidence for the home clash with Man City.

The Light Blues are managed by the man who was never going to leave Fulham, K.K. or Judas as he is known in some parts of West London. Rather appropriately K.K. has been joined by an American, Cloud Rainmaker, who went so far as to have a full medical, discuss detailed personal terms and be happy enough with the terms to pose for publicity pictures in a Fulham strip. Little Cloud Rainmaker then got a phone call from K.K. which motivated him to mosey on up to Manchester and sign on the dotted line for the Northerners. After the switch both K.K. and Cloud Rainmaker huffed and puffed that it was normal behaviour, glad they are not my mates.

For various reasons the Lads from the light blue part of Manchester have been a problem for Fulham in recent years, Aug 1999 for example. In the 6 meetings since August 1998 The Black and Whites have won just 1 and drawn 1 with three defeats on the run since 2000. Hopefully the new spirit and tactics introduced by Chris Coleman will ensure that Fulham break the losing run and send K.K. and Heap Little Cloud Rainmaker packing with a lesson in how to be men with style.

Elsewhere Man Utd and Arsenal, thoroughly whipped by Inter on Wednesday, clash at Manchester on Sunday so look out for fireworks, on Saturday the Fulham Broadway gang are away at Wolves, who are desperate for their first win of their season. Following a tiring mid-week game away in eastern Europe Roman's toy boys will need to be careful. Hopefully there is not an upset.

10th placed Blackburn, managed by the Dorian Gray of football Graeme Souness, travel to early season surprise package Portsmouth who may be on the lookout for a certain Lucas Neill, Micky Adams, an example to other ex-Fulham managers, and 11th placed Leicester travel to Liverpool hoping that the Scoucers play as poorly as Leeds did last Monday, 13th placed Everton travel to 19th placed Middlesborough who have to win really if they want to avoid taking Fulham's place in the relegation betting lists, 15th placed Bolton, no longer the media darling, travel to 18th placed Newcastle who must win, 17th placed Spurs, who seem to have been reincarnated this season as a bunch of plonkers, are at home to Southampton. If Hoddle cannot fire up his naughty boys to win he is likely to get a vote of confidence from the board.
