Premier weekend game details 01:03.11.2003

last updated Thursday 30th October 2003, 5:20 PM

Fulham fans will be welcoming home their champion crushers on Sunday when The Cottagers clash with Liverpool and the fans will be hoping for a repeat of last season's result when Fulham beat the Scoucers 3-2

Chris Coleman's squad will need to tap into the same spirit they showed at Manchester last weekend as their home form has wobbled of late and Liverpool are desperate for an improvement in their relatively poor start to the season which has seen four defeats in 10 starts. A positive note for Fulham is that Liverpool have lost on their last two away trips to Portsmouth and Charlton.

Elsewhere the Blues from Fulham Broadway head to Liverpool to meet the Merseyside Blues with both clubs desperate for a win, Chelsea have won just one in their last three games while Everton have won one in their last 6 games. The naughty Gunners have an easier trip North, in their case, to the even naughtier Leeds. Prior to the start of the season Leeds were 20/1 against being relegated but that has now shortened to as low as 6/4 which on par with Bolton. As far as history is concerned Leeds' form over the last three years virtually guarantees them to be relegation fodder at the end of this season.

This weekend a draw at the Man U's Stadium of Dreams, (ho, ho, ho) would ensure that Fulham can stay in touch with Man U while ensuring a decent gap between them and Pompey. The early relegation scrap between Middlesbrough and Wolves could be a dire affair and if Boro don't win the "next manager of England" could start to feel the draft around his ankles.

Another draw, this time at Newcastle, would be nice as it would keep The Toon Army at a decent distance. Unfortunately a win between Southampton and Man City would lead to the victor leapfrogging Fulham if the result against Liverpool is not so good. Tottenham welcome Bolton for what may be a rerun of Verdun as Sam seems to have lost control of the Trotters and Pleat seems keen simply to avoid a defeat.

Poor old Micky and Graeme. Blackburn have lost four games on the turn and only one win in six games while Leicester have lost five games on the turn and have also won just one game in 6. On Monday Birmingham are at home to Charlton and it should prove to be an interesting game as Birmingham have not lost at home yet and Charlton has one of the best away records.
