Paul Bracewell new Halifax Manager

last updated Tuesday 03rd October 2000, 1:59 PM
Halifax Town have appointed ex-Fulham boss Paul Bracewell as their new manager on a two-year deal, to replace the recently sacked Mark Lillis.

Joint caretaker-managers Tony Parkes and Peter Butler see their roles change, with Parkes shifting up to take the role of assistant manager and Butler leaving with immediate effect.

Town are currently the third division's basement club and it is clearly hoped that Bracewell's successful playing career at Everton and good managerial start at Fulham will stand the club in good stead.

Bracewell said: "Halifax wanted someone to take the club forward and this is a massive challenge. We will get through a lot of hard work and hopefully we can get some success.

"I have no regrets from my time at Fulham and my record there speaks for itself. It was a fantastic experience and now I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to get back into the game." Halifax have something like thirty professional players on their books and it is likely that Bracewell will take time to decide how he can reduce that amount.
