Premiership outfit Fulham have made an official statement to deny reports that have suggested a Turkish consortium are to launch a takeover bid.

Media speculation had claimed a takeover proposal had been mooted but this has been denied by Mohamed Al Fayed's advisor, Jack Irvine.

Newspaper reports had suggested owner Al Fayed was ready to sell his majority share in the club, but this has subsequently been denied.

"I can categorically state that Fulham FC is not for sale. The Turkish businessmen mentioned in this morning's story did not meet Mr Mohamed Al Fayed,'' read a club statement.

"I can confirm that Mr Al Fayed's advisers met with the Turkish gentlemen but that is because Mr Al Fayed would always extend that courtesy to anyone who expresses an interest in investing in the club.

"Once again I repeat that Mr Al Fayed has no desire to sell Fulham FC and no meeting took place as suggested in today's Mirror."
