Ruslan Nigmatullin's proposed move to Fulham is on hold after he received anoffer
from Sporting Lisbon.
The 26-year-old Lokomotiv Moscow goalkeeper has become a target of Jean Tigana
after Fulham's promotion to the Premiership and his current coach believes he
should go to England rather than join the Portuguese club.
"I can guarantee that Nigmatullin will play for Lokomotiv until the end
of the first leg of the championship July 1," said Yuri Semin in Sport-Express
newspaper.
"He has such a restriction in his contract. But after the first leg we
couldn't prohibit Nigmatullin to leave the club.
"The most important thing is to sign the contract with a good team, country
doesn't mean a lot.
"But the English Premier League has a higher level than the Spanish and
Portuguese championships.
"Premier League is a better way to find out the standard of a player."
Semin is resigned to losing his number one and confirmed that Fulham have expressed
an interest but have yet to make an offer.
Nigmatullin would prefer a move to Fulham if offered similar terms to those
proposed by Sporting, he told the newspaper.
"But it doesn't mean I will continue my career in England. Different solutions
are possible.," he said.
"I can answer these question more precisely in a week."
