Fulham defender Moritz Volz has vowed his side will go for the jugular when Manchester City arrive at Craven Cottage tomorrow.

Chris Coleman’s men sit six points clear of the Barclays’ Premiership relegation zone but with seven games left to play they could still be sucked into the bottom three.

Victory tomorrow would almost certainly be enough to keep Fulham in the top flight for another season, so Volz is determined the club will finish with all three points.

But the German Under-21 international admits his defence must be on top form as City – who are chasing a top-10 finish – bristle with attacking options.

“We can’t relax until we’re mathematically safe. We’ve got a busy schedule coming up and hopefully we can start off with a win against Manchester City,” he said.

“We had a hard game up there on the first day of the season – they attack very well. We went one down, but equalised in the second half to get a draw, and up there that wasn’t a bad result. But at home we’ll be looking to get the win and get the three points.

“They’ve got players on form and are playing well, so it will be tough – especially for the defence in keeping a clean sheet. City have players who are always dangerous and who can nick a goal out of nothing. We’ll have to be alert.”

Volz has warned City that Fulham have a few playmakers of their own, however, and remains confident Cottagers fans will be celebrating victory tomorrow.

He said: “We’re at home, we’ll get chances, and we’ve got players like Luis Boa Morte, Andy Cole and Steed Malbranque who can create things for us. We’re positive that we can do the job.”
