Fulham defender Moritz Volz was handed his first call-up to the Germany squad by manager Jurgen Klinsmann ahead of a friendly here against Cameroon.

The 21-year-old Volz joins another England-based player, 20-year-old Chelsea defender Robert Huth, who was first called up by Klinsmann in August.

Since Klinsmann took over from Rudi Voller his policy of introducing youth ahead of their hosting of the World Cup finals in 2006 has been noticeable.

Volz and Huth join 20-year-old Hannover defender Per Mertesacker, and 22-year-old Aston Villa midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger.

Wednesday's friendly will also give Klinsmann the chance to try out a new defensive line-up as four Germany regulars - Arne Friedrich, Andreas Goerlitz, Frank Fahrenhorst and Andreas Hinkel - are all injured.

The match could also give Klinsmann, a former Germany international striker, the chance to force his goalkeepers, number one Oliver Kahn and his eternal second Jens Lehmann, to make up after a recent spat.
