Fulham have exceeded most pundits' expectations with their promising start to the season which sees them in the top half of the table with a game in hand on most of their rivals.
Appointing a rookie manager in Chris Coleman looked to be a shortcut to relegation but the former Fulham defender has his side playing for him and it's been good to watch. Anyone who saw their match with Birmingham on Sunday will know they were unlucky not to record a second successive away win and it also disproved the theory floated after their defeat at Everton that they struggle against the more physical Premiership outfits.
This game really could be one for the purists because City were sensational in the second half against Aston Villa with debutant Steve McManaman having an immediate impact. Nicolas Anelka is looking close to his best and he was on the scoresheet in both games last season between these two sides as City did the double.
Too many times last year Manchester City followed up a strong performance with a poor one. The same appears to be happening at the start of this season. The encouraging 3-0 win at the Valley on the opening day was followed up with a lacklustre display at home to Portsmouth. Blackburn were then defeated away before City then went on to lose at home to Arsenal. Last weekend Aston Villa were trounced 4-1 which means based on the previous 12 months of Kevin Keegans reign anything other than a strong Manchester City showing can be expected.
Best High Street price for a Fulham win is the 6/4 on offer at Hills and Stanley while Betfair offer 89/50.
