Big match facts from BBCSport
FULHAM head for the north east having pocketed four points from their opening four games. They were all picked up at Craven Cottage from a goalless draw with Birmingham, and a 1-0 victory over Everton. They've been fruitless on the road, losing 2-1 at Blackburn and 4-1 at Arsenal. Indeed no other club has shipped as many as six goals away from home so far in the Premiership.
- The Cottagers have failed to score in only one of the last 13 Premier League games, scoring in each of the last six. They've won only one of the last nine away from home and not managed a clean sheet in 13 on the road.
- Fulham recorded their first Premiership victory at St James' Park last season, winning 1-4. Midfielder Steed Malbranque scored twice, as the Cottagers handed Souness his first home defeat after two months in charge. But the under-fire Magpies manager gained revenge in the reverse fixture in May when his side won 1-3 at Craven Cottage. It was their first victory in eight Premiership matches.
- Scored one goal in each of the last three matches.
- Averaging a point a game, mirrors last years four-game start to the Premiership season.
- Won only one of the last 11 away, in all competitions.
- Won one of the last nine Premiership games on the road, losing seven of the nine.
- Not managed a clean sheet on the road in the Premiership since the 0-1 victory at Norwich on 4 December.
- The block-out at Carrow Road is Fulham's only clean sheet away from the Cottage since the beginning of last season.
- If he participates, Alain GOMA will be playing against his former club.
- Luis BOA MORTE is a hat trick shy of scoring 50 goals for Fulham.
- If he plays, Mark PEMBRIDGE will be making his 50th appearance for the Cottagers.
Newcastle play their first match since the £17 million club record signing of Michael Owen from Real Madrid. The Magpies are hoping Owen's arrival signals a bright, new dawn and that Fulham - their last Premiership victims - will become their first of the current campaign, one year this week since Graeme Souness was officially installed as manager.
- The Tyneside club have lost three and drawn one of their four League games, failing to score in all of them. Newcastle are the only club yet to score in the Premier League. The goalless draw, home to West Ham, produced their only point to date. United have not had a goal awarded to them in 417 (six hours 57 minutes) of Premiership football since Geremi's own goal, home to Chelsea on the last day of last season. In fact Shola Ameobi was the last Newcastle player to score - the last of a trio against Fulham in a 1-3 victory at Craven Cottage on 4 May, since when the Magpies have made six top flight outings. Laurent Robert was the most recent player in a back and white shirt to score a League goal at St James' Park. The Frenchman netted the only score against Liverpool on 5 March.
- Newcastle lead by only four wins to three with one draw in the Premiership head-to-head standings.
- Already lost five League and Cup games this season - more than any other club.
- Winless in six Premiership matches.
- Drawn two and lost four in the highest League since beating Fulham 1-3 at Craven Cottage on 4 May.
- Won only one of the last 14 Premier League engagements.
- Conceded more goals in the last 10 minutes of Premiership games this term than any other club (three).
- Not won in six home League games.
- Drawn four and lost two at St James' Park since beating Liverpool 1-0 on 5 March.
- Failed to score in four of the last six League games on Tyneside.
- If he plays, Lee CLARK will be facing his former club.
- Alan SHEARER is the Premiership's leading scorer of all time with 250 goals.
- SHEARER needs two more to total 275 in English top flight football.
- The former England skipper is eight short of Jackie Milburn's record of 200 for the Tyneside club. (Milburn's total consists of 177 League goals and 23 in the FA Cup. It does not include the goal he scored in Newcastle's 2-1 loss to Tottenham in the 1951 FA Charity Shield).
- If named in the 11, Lee BOWYER will be making his 300th career League start.
