Match Stats - Fulham v Norwich 15.05.05

last updated Friday 13th May 2005, 9:18 AM
Big match facts from BBCSport FULHAM play host to a Norwich City side, who are bidding to pull off one of the greatest ever acts of escapology in Premiership history. Victory for the club from East Anglia from their first ever top flight fixture at Craven Cottage will maintain their Premier League status, regardless of the results of the three clubs below them.
  • The Cottagers are currently placed in 16th spot. They've never finished lower than 14th in three previous Premiership campaigns, and could climb to 12th if results go their way, which would be their second highest finish. They need to score one goal to bring their all-time total in top flight football to 900, and to 100 in home Premier League matches.
  • A 7th minute goal from Andrew Cole separated these sides when they met at Carrow Road in December. It ended a three match mid-season losing run for the Cottagers and set up the possibility of successive League 'doubles' over the Norfolk club and third against them overall.
  • Scored 175 goals and conceded exactly 200 in their Premiership history of 151 matches.
  • Lost 18 top flight matches. Only Crystal Palace (19) have lost more.
  • Conceded the opening goal 24 times in highest League matches this term - only Norwich (24) equal that.
  • Lost the lead only five times in top tier games this term. No club has surrendered the advantage more often.
  • Need to score one more goal to total 900 in top flight football.
  • One of four clubs to have gained just one point when they've failed to score (0-0 home to Charlton on 5 March).
  • Holding the worst disciplinary record in the Premiership (seven red cards, 57 yellow).
  • The poorest supported club in the top division (average gate: 19,722).
  • Lost one of the last eight home Premiership matches, winning four of them.
  • Lost seven home top League encounters this season. Only Crystal Palace have been beaten more often on home soil (eight matches).
  • Need to score one to total 100 goals in home Premier League matches all-time.
  • Pape Bouba DIOP was once on loan at Norwich.
  • Luis BOA MORTE is a hat trick shy of scoring 50 goals for Fulham.
  • If he plays, Sylvain LEGWINSKI will be making his 150th appearance for the Thames-side club.
  • Should he take part, LEGWINSKI will be making his 300th appearance across the European Leagues. He played 135 times for AS Monaco, 49 for Girondins Bordeaux and so far has made 115 League appearances for Fulham.
  • If he plays, Mark PEMBRIDGE will be making his 50th appearance for the Cottagers.
NORWICH CITY go into the final game directly above the safety line with their fate in their own hands. A draw or a defeat would be good enough to stay up, if the three clubs below them followed suit. The Canaries were last out of the relegation zone on New Year's Day, but four wins in six games and 13 points from a possible 18 make Nigel Worthington's side the fourth strongest on current form in the Premiership.
  • Delia Smith's Carrow Road based concern have posted just seven points on their travels this season. They've picked up just one point in the last two but scored three goals in each of those games. They're the only top flight side without an away maximum, and need a first Premiership victory since the 1-0 success, also in London, at Crystal Palace on 17 December 1994 to survive. Since that victory, Norwich have drawn nine and lost 29 top division encounters on the road.
  • The Canaries last claimed maximum points on Fulham turf in the old Second Division - a 0-1 victory on New Years Day 1986. That's their only victory in five visits.
  • Banked 13 points from the last available 18 - placing them fourth in the Premiership's Current Form table.

  • Won seven Premiership matches. Only West Brom (five) and Southampton (six) have won fewer.
  • Lost 18 times this season in the top division. Only Crystal Palace have been beaten more often (19).
  • Conceded more goals in the highest League than any other club (71). That's one every 47 minutes on average.
  • Kept three clean sheets in six Premiership outings.
  • Kept only six clean sheets in this League campaign - the goalless draws against Spurs (a), Villa (h) and WBA (a), the 2-0 win over Manchester United (h), and the 1-0 home triumphs over Charlton and Birmingham.
  • Opened the scoring in 10 matches at the highest League level, winning four, drawing four and losing two. Only Southampton have taken the lead from the opening whistle on fewer occasions (nine).
  • Failed to score in 13 top tier encounters, drawing three and losing 10. Only Blackburn have fired more blanks in Premiership games (16).
  • Conceded the opener on 24 occasions - more often than any other club in Premiership competition with the exception of Fulham. Three of the 24 were won (v Southampton, Bolton and West Brom - all home), with five drawn and 16 lost.
