Match Stats - Arsenal v Fulham 26.12.04

last updated Friday 24th December 2004, 1:54 PM
Big match facts from BBCSport FULHAM will end the first half of this Premiership season with their lowest ever tally of points, whatever the result from this 19th game of the season. They've never beaten Arsenal in seven Premiership meetings to date. No other club has lost more than 10 top division games this term, and seven of those have come in the last 11 outings. Worryingly for manager Chris Coleman, the side have slumped to within three places and four points of the relegation zone, with home games against Birmingham and Crystal Palace and a visit to Southampton making up the rest of the Christmas and New Year programme.
  • The Cottagers have never lost a Premiership game on Boxing Day. This is the 15th of 30 London derbies to be played in the Premiership this season, and Fulham's third on a Boxing Day. The previous two, against West Ham and Charlton, were drawn. This season in derby clashes in addition to the heavy home defeat by Arsenal, the Thames-side club have lost 2-0 at Crystal Palace, beaten Spurs by the same score at Craven Cottage and been defeated 1-4 at home to Chelsea and 2-1 away to Charlton last Monday.
  • The Cottagers have lost 15 of their 17 League trips to Highbury. The other two were drawn, including last season's goalless game. Fulham are in danger of being 'doubled' by the Gunners for the seventh time in their history, and third in four seasons in the Premiership.
  • Won one of the last seven in all competitions.
  • Lost five of the last seven League and Cup matches.
  • Lost four of the last six Premiership games, and seven of the last 11.
  • Drawn three Premiership matches. No club has finished level less often in the top League, although Charlton equal the three games.
  • Lost 10 Premiership matches. No club has lost more, but Crystal Palace and West Brom have also been beaten 10 times.
  • Averaged a point a game so far this season.
  • Lost the lead twice in Premiership matches this season. No club has surrendered the advantage less often.
  • Scored one goal in each of the last four games (three Premiership).
  • Gone six League games since scoring more than a single goal.
  • Turned around at half time all square in five Premiership matches. No club has been level less often at the break.
  • Gone in behind at half time in seven top flight games. Only Norwich (12 matches) have been behind more often at the interval.
  • Players been shown four red cards in top flight games this term.
  • Conceded only one goal in the first 15 minutes of a top division encounter.
  • One short of totalling 150 goals in Premier League history.
  • One goal shy of conceding 100 away from home all-time in the Premiership.
  • Four points short of their lowest points total at the half way stage of a Premiership season (22).
  • Fourth bottom in the Premiership's "Last Six Current Form" table, with four points. Only Crystal Palace (two points), and Bolton and West Brom (one each) are beneath them.
  • Won two of the last four Premiership matches on the road.
Those are the only away victories clinched this League season (at Newcastle and Norwich).
  • If they participate, Luis BOA MORTE, Andrew COLE and Moritz VOLZ will be playing against a former club.
  • BOA MORTE is a double shy of 50 goals for English clubs (four for Arsenal, one for Southampton and 43 for Fulham).
  • If involved, VOLZ will be making his 50th League appearance for the Thames-side club.
  • If he keeps goal, Edwin VAN DER SAR will be making his 400th appearance across the European League. The Dutch shot stopper has played 226 times for Ajax, 66 for Juventus and 107 for Fulham.
  • When next involved from the opening whistle, Lee CLARK will be making his 150th start for the Cottagers.
  • If he lines-up from the outset, Billy McKINLAY will be making his 350th start in English and Scottish League football.
  • Should he line-up for the kick off, Ian PEARCE will be making his 200th career League start.
ARSENAL take on Fulham in an early afternoon kick off, looking for a fifth successive Boxing Day victory. They've never lost a home League game to Fulham in their history, and need maximum points to ensure the five-point gap between themselves and Chelsea is not widened.
  • Arsenal have sights set on stretching their undefeated run of home Premiership matches to a club record equalling 30, set between December 1997 and August 1999. That would also equal the third longest such run by any club in the Premiership, and leave the Gunners six behind Manchester United's longest ever undefeated home Premier League sequence.
  • The Gunners were at the height of their form when they beat Fulham 0-3 at Craven Cottage in September. Fredrik Ljungberg, an own goal from Zat Knight and Jose Reyes gave the champions victory but that was only half the story. This was the game when referee Mark Halsey reversed his decision to award Fulham a penalty, and was engulfed by players at the end.
  • Undefeated in four.
  • Won three and drawn one League and Cup games since losing 1-0 at Manchester United in the Carling Cup quarter-final.
  • Won two and drawn one in the Premiership since losing 2-1 at Liverpool on 28 November.
  • Lost one of the last eight League games.
Won 11 Premiership games. Only Chelsea (13) have won more.
  • Lost twice in the top League.
  • Holding the strongest attack in the highest League, netting 45 goals in 18 matches. Averaging 2.5 goals a game.
  • Scored first in more top tier matches than any other club (14).
  • Conceded the opening goal in four highest league games.
  • Scored more first half goals in the Premiership than any other club (15).
  • Netted double as many goals in the second half as in the first (30).
  • Two losses in 58 Premiership matches (39 wins, 17 draws, two defeats).
  • Built the Premiership's longest winning sequence so far this season - five games.
  • At their most dangerous in the middle 15 minutes of the second half of Premiership games, when 13 of the 45 goals have been netted.
  • At their most vulnerable in the last quarter-hour of top division clashes, when seven of 22 goals have been shipped.
  • Lost by more than a single goal once in 64 Premiership games.
  • Undefeated in all competitions at home.
Scored in every match played on home turf this season.
  • Kept four clean sheets at Highbury - three in the Premiership.
  • One of three remaining clubs still with an unbeaten home Premiership record.
  • Chasing a 30th home Premiership match without losing.
  • Thierry HENRY is leading scorer of club goals among Premiership players with 18.
  • HENRY also leads the way in the Barclays Golden Boot standings with 15 Premiership goals, six ahead of clubmate Robert PIRES.
  • Fredrik LJUNGBERG is one short of totalling 50 goals across the European leagues. The Swedish International has scored 39 Premiership goals for Arsenal, in addition to 10 top flight strikes for Halmstads BK in Sweden.
