Monaco coach Didier Deschamps insists he
will hold no grudges should Martin Djetou leave the club, with Fulham
leading the chase.
Djetou is keen to quit the French side after six years in the Principality,
during which time he has landed two League titles.
Deschamps, who led France to the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 title, confirmed
he would be delighted to see the French international remain with Monaco,
but admits he could not stand in the way of the 26-year-old after his
years of loyal service to the club.
"Martin is a player I rate very highly and I would be delighted to
have him as one of my defensive pillars," said Deschamps.
"However, if he finally decides that he has received the right offer
and he wants to move on, then I am not going to stand in his way because
he has shown a huge amount of loyalty to the club and they have benefited
enormously from his service,"
he added.
Djetou was reported to be set to sign for Fulham and renew his links with
former Monaco coach Jean Tigana after holding talks with The Cottagers'
boss last week. However, the proposed £6million deal has failed
to materialise thus far.
