    | | Kit Symons regrets
his miss misses his Chris | |
Kit, who came desperately close to scoring against the Nations Champions said:
“Obviously I’ve been desperate to play games. But certainly not at the expense
of my best mate.
“The build up to the game wasn’t really what you might have expected. Everyone’s
mind was on Chris. Whilst the media were hyping everything up the atmosphere was
a bit downbeat to be honest.”
Whilst Fulham’s new look defence struggled to get to grips with United during
the opening minutes of the match, Kit revealed that it didn’t take long for his
team to settle in to their stride.
“We were a bit shaky for the first ten minutes and they got the early goal. But
once we settled into it I felt we certainly had the better of the first half.”
Kit also revealed that a missed chance has been playing on his mind ever since:
“If a certain grey-haired centre half has scored things might have been different.
I simply have to put that one down to a bad miss. “I had a feeling there was going
to be a flick on and I got in just the right position. Unfortunately I tried to
head it too precisely and it went wide. “I have to admit that it’s run through
my head on a few occasions since.”
Kit concluded that a win against Norwich City on Saturday now becomes vital to
the team. “Especially after the Stockport result. It was a big disappointment
to everyone. Now we just want to get back to winning ways in the league”
