Kevin Ball goes to Burnley

EXPERIENCED midfielder Kevin Ball has completed his free transfer from Fulham to Division One new-boys Burnley.

The 35-year-old former Sunderland star was one of the North East clubs favoured sons after joining for £350,000 from Portsmouth in 1990, and continuing to play for the Black Cats for the next nine years, racking up nearly 400 appearances.

A £200,000 move to Fulham in December of last year saw Ball strengthen The Cottagers midfield, but a contract extension was not agreed and Clarets manager Stan Ternent has completed his fourth Bosman free transfer of the season.

Turf Moor has already seen the arrival of Liverpool youngster John Boardman, Sheffield Wednesday's Lee Briscoe and Phil Gray from Luton, as a squad for the coming Division One campaign is formed on a shoestring budget.
