Karlheinz Riedle has pencilled in a
November return after seven weeks out with a neck injury.
The 34-year-old forward is determined to
play a part in what he has declared is his last season in first-class
football. He said: "Hopefully, when I return it will be like Jean has
bought a new player.
"It's been a massive frustration to
get an injury just three days before the season started and not be able to
do anything about it.">
The former German World Cup star dislodged
a disc in his spine in training which resulted in the neck problem and after
a four-week spell of treatment suffered a further setback when he attempted
to train again.
He said: "All of this was never in my
plans. I wanted to finish with Fulham in style, especially after the way the
side have started the season. The ball is played on the floor now and I want
to be a part of a team as good as this."
Riedle has still to decide on his next
career move after he hangs up his boots, but thinks it unlikely he will
attempt to be a coach with the Whites.
He said: "Right now, all I want to do
is play but I will make my plans in February or March."
