Fulham Manager Martin Jol has revealed he is torn between bringing Eyong Enoh back to Fulham or reinvesting in a different central midfielder.

The Dutchman will have to pay £2 million to sign the Cameroon international from Ajax and is weighing up his options as he would prefer a more creative midfielder

The Dutchman has identified the middle of the park as the area for reinvestment after he ended last season with only one central midfielder on a long-term contract.

With a tight budget to work with, Jol is undecided whether to sign Enoh permanently but was impressed with his impact last season, despite him being "bad" at Ajax.

"If you want big stars in that position (centre midfield) you have to pay a lot of money," Jol told the Fulham Chronicle.

"That is why you have to gamble and take players when they are bad sometimes.

"He [Enoh] was bad at Ajax, and they have [Christian] Poulsen in his position - a Danish international.

"When I got him, you hope that he will be good. And he has proved it. We tried to get an option to sign him permanently - and we have one.

"But we have always had link up players in that position. Danny Murphy was not a defensive player - he was a playmaker. I had Michael Carrick at Spurs, he was a playmaker.

"Enoh is different and we have to make a decision. I can't tell you now."
