Birmingham City striker Geoff Horsfield
has admitted that his form has been poor since joining the Blues from
Fulham but he wants to put that right in the promotion play-offs.
The Midlands side plays Preston in the Nationwide Division One play-off
first leg on Sunday, while the one-time Halifax forward is looking for
improved form.
"I know I haven't been playing as well as I did at Fulham,"
admitted Horsfield.
"I had a good record there, scoring about once in every two games
- here it's about one in every 20!
"I'm not playing in a different style or being asked to do anything
different, it's just that the goals haven't been coming and my confidence
has been affected.
"Ask any striker in the world, when you are scoring you are flying.
What has been really frustrating is the niggly injuries I keep on getting.
At the Worthington Cup semi-final I was as fit as I've been all season,
then I started picking up things again.
"The training ground hasn't helped a big lad like me, it's been so
heavy. I need two or three games under my belt to get that match fitness.
"I'm feeling better now and although I cannot get into the team I
accept that because Marcelo and Andrew Johnson have been doing well.
"But I am determined to contribute in any way I can to us beating
Preston North End in the play-offs and reaching the final, coming off
the bench or whatever.
"I have no regrets, none at all, about signing for Birmingham and
I am desperate to be part of a successful team here."
