Fulham Football Club has appointed Norwegian
coach, Gaute Haugenes, as the new Manager for its successful professional
Ladies team. Last season Gaute was Assistant Head Coach with the Ladies
team helping the girls not only to win the Southeast Combination League
resoundingly, but also to win the London Cup against Arsenal and to reach
the Ladies F.A. Cup final.
Haugenes, 31, was previously part of the development process regarding the
Regional F.A. Development programme for boys in Norway and worked with the
mens premier league club Brann Bergen. He also worked with the Norwegian
F.A as a scout for its national Ladies team and has extensive knowledge
of the Ladies game with a total of 9 years experience as both Manager and
Coach.
The Clubs Managing Director, Michael Fiddy, comments:
Over the course of last season Gautes coaching skills and his
ability to motivate the girls was very impressive and further to Frank McMorrows
decision to return to teaching, he was the obvious choice for the Club as
Manager. I am confident that his credentials as a coach in Norway will prove
a valuable asset in the important forthcoming season and we look forward
to some exciting football being played by the Ladies.
Gaute Haugenes comments:
This is a great opportunity for me at Fulham to achieve the Chairmans
goal of the Ladies being recognised both nationally and internationally.
The standard of womens football in this country is improving all the
time and I am confident that this Club can become the benchmark for success
to encourage the establishment of a Womens Professional League in
years to come.
