Fulham's attempt to lure George
Weah to Craven Cottage fell through after the Liberian striker
failed to agree personal terms with the First Division club.
Fulham manager Jean Tigana held talks yesterday with the 1995
World Player of the Year after he was released from his contract
at AC Milan.
A deal worth around £5 million over three years was agreed but
Weah, 33, is thought to have demanded a significant sum up front
and Fulham said no.
Weah, who spent five months on loan at Chelsea last season, would
have earned £25,000 a week plus a £1m bonus if Tigana's side were
promoted to the Premiership.
Instead, Weah was today seeking talks with other interested clubs,
thought to be Monaco and Bologna.
Fulham managing director Michael Fiddy said: "We had some discussions
with George and believed we had got close to agreement but there
were differences on personal terms."
