Fulham midfielder Marcel Gecov has described English football as 'addictive' and hopes to experience more of it by establishing himself in the Fulham side.

The Czech Republic international made the move to Craven Cottage from Slovan Liberec over the summer and is enjoying life at his new club.

He played his first game for Fulham in their Carling Cup tie against Chelsea last week, which ended in an agonising defeat on penalties.

The 23-year-old reverted back to being an unused substitute for Saturday's goalless draw with West Brom in the Premier League, and recognises that he will have to be patient as he waits for further opportunities.

But he cannot imagine ever becoming fed up of English football after relishing every second of the match against Chelsea.

"I must say I have not experienced many nicer moments in my career," he told Czech news agency CTK.

"The atmosphere and venues must charm everyone. When we were going to take a corner in the 70th minute and our fans were cheering for us I was saying to myself 'I don't want this moment to end'.

"It is very addictive and I don't think this (football in England) can ever become ordinary.

"I would like to be getting more and more chances to play with time but must stay realistic. This squad is packed with quality and a lot of lads are waiting for a chance."

Gevoc maintains that he never lost motivation prior to being handed his debut, after receiving constant reassurances from manager Martin Jol that he would soon get a chance.

"Sure, it was rather a long wait but I wasn't frustrated by any means. I just focused on giving my best in training and the manager was speaking to me often," Gecov stated.

"He kept explaining what the situation was and that my chance would come. It's true I might have grown slightly impatient if I had to wait longer. This way, though, I'm happy to have experienced it."
