Fulham will have to wait at least a fortnight to learn if Fifa will impose a transfer embargo on them.
Fifa's players' status committee convened on Friday to discuss The Cottagers` refusal to pay Lyon the final instalment of Marlet`s £11.5 million transfer to the London club in the summer of 2001.
Fulham were not happy with where the money was going and how it was being distributed, so decided to withhold payment.
This prompted Lyon to take legal action and also contact Fifa to arbitrate.
The eight-man committee have reached a decision, but are going to notify the interested parties by post, which could take up to a fortnight.
Fifa spokesman Andreas Herren said: "The matter has been dealt with and a decision has been taken.
"We will now write it up and notify the parties involved, a process which will take between 10 days and two weeks.
"After that, we will be in a position to give further information to the media."
