Fulham will play at Loftus Road next season and then return to Craven Cottage after ground redevelopment takes their capacity to 30,000 12 months later.
The choice came down to two venues, with West Ham's Upton Park the other ground considered for the brief spell of relocation.
Although Fulham boss Jean Tigana favoured a switch to West Ham, preference was ultimately given to the fans to minimise inconvenience of travel while the work at their home base takes place.
The deal was rubber- stamped in the week prior to change of ownership at Loftus Road where receivers agreed the sale of Chris Wright's controlling interest in Second Division QPR.
Fulham owner Mohamed Al Fayed thought hard before making the switch but the closeness of Loftus Road outweighed a problematic trip to the East End.
