Paul Scharner Stories |
|
Wantaway Wigan Athletic defender Paul Scharner has revealed that he has a pricetag of £6 million and that he will not be following Steve Bruce to Sunderland.
Scharner and Bruce did not always see eye to eye, with the Austrian’s dissatisfaction at Wigan beginning long before the manager’s departure for The Stadium Light.
The 29-year-old has previously revealed that Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Fulham are among his suitors, but Scharner does not believe that Sunderland would represent an improvement on his current club, Wigan.
"I have decided that I want to change clubs,” said Scharner.
"A lot can happen between now and the transfer deadline at the end of August.
"My fee is £6 million, and there has been interest from four clubs in England and Germany.
"It is a selection process for me, and I am not ruling Germany out.
"It was a big surprise when Steve Bruce left Wigan for Sunderland, he had long sworn that he would be staying put.
"But I can't see myself joining Sunderland. In footballing terms, they are certainly not an improvement on Wigan.
"Besides, I did not get on too well with Bruce's style of play."
