Rangers boss Walter Smith is considering playing Daniel Cousin against Panathinaikos as the striker waits for FIFA to make a decision on his proposed move to Fulham.
Cousin's move to Craven Cottage has been held up by red tape, with FIFA regulations stating a player cannot play for more than two clubs in a season.
The Gabon international played twice for Lens before making the move to Ibrox, however Fulham and Rangers are hoping for special dispensation to allow the deal to go through.
FIFA are expected to make a judgement on the case this week, but Smith says he is still prepared to field Cousin on Wednesday in their UEFA Cup clash, especially with Jean-Claude Darcheville suspended.
"I'm more concerned for the player because he's not getting a game and that could be considered a wee bit unfair. But the situation remains the same," Smith told the Daily Record.
"I'll consider the possibility of playing Cousin against Panathinaikos up until FIFA make a decision. If it turns out he can go to Fulham then he goes. If not, that's fine by me.
"I am well aware that he hasn't played for three weeks because of the transfer situation but, even so, I would have no hesitation in playing him if I feel it will benefit the team.
"It will also depend on how we want to play but even without Jean-Claude Darcheville there are still options.
"I wouldn't have sanctioned Cousin's sale if I had thought it would leave us short of options to achieve our goals."
