Fulham striker Steve Marlet is eager to show Roger Lemerre that he is ready
to win his place back in the French national side.
The 28-year-old was at the front of Lemerre's thoughts earlier in the
season but injuries have damaged his opportunities with Les Bleus.
He was sidelined for a month after spraining his ankle during France's
defeat to Chile in September, and a broken leg then kept him out for a
further two months.
Since returning to fitness, he has scored twice in four games for Jean
Tigana's Fulham, form he hopes will help win him a place in Lemerre's
squad to face Romania in Paris on February 13th.
"It is better to be injured during the winter rather than a month
before the start of the World Cup," said Marlet, who has appeared
six times for France.
"I will try to gain my place by scoring as much as possible and
without injuring myself."
Marlet joined the English Premier League newcomers last August from Lyon
for £12million.
"I feel I am starting a new season. Physically and technically I
already feel very fine," he told Le Parisien.
