David Healy is deemed surplus to first-team requirements at Craven Cottage as Fulham boss Roy Hodgson revealed an attacking partnership of Bobby Zamora and Andrew Johnson would be favoured, now the Belfast Telegraph reports that Roy Keane is lining up a bid for the Northern Irish international.

Despite lighting up the international stage for Northern Ireland, David Healy could never recapture his Norn Ireland form for club side Fulham.

Roy Hodgson's predecessor Lawrie Sanchez often named Healy amongst the starting line-up, but the best the Killyleagh-born striker can hope for under current boss is a place on the substitutes bench.

Last year Hodgson opted for McBride and (Eddie) Johnson in his attack, and with new recruits, Healy still finds himself out-of-favour - having not even made the trip to the KC Stadium to take on Hull City over the weekend.

Hodgson, having spent £16million on a striking line-up consisting of Bobby Zamora and Andrew Johnson, insists that when fit, they will both be starters considering their price-tags.

The Belfast Telegraph report claims that Sunderland boss Roy Keane can sense the unrest and is ready to rescue Healy from a west London abyss. Keane is eager to offer a swap deal to the Cottagers involving the Mackem's Dickson Etuhu.

David Healy is currently on international duty. Northern Ireland face Scotland tomorrow, and Healy will hope to recapture the form that crowned him top goalscorer in the European Championship qualifying round.
