JIMMY Bullard will miss the start of next season.

The Fulham midfielder suffered serious knee ligament damage at Newcastle last September in a tackle with Scott Parker, and has since been to America for tests.

Top knee surgeon Dr Richard Steadman is satisfied the injury has now healed, but Bullard has been told not to rush back into action.

He will begin a weight training programme at the start of July to build up the muscle in his legs, and hopes to make his long-awaited return in September.
