Fulham have signed Italian veteran Antonio Benarrivo - and the player has admitted he does not believe he will be the last Italian recruit at the club this summer.

34-year-old Benarrivo arrives in London following 11 seasons at Ennio Tardini, and he has received a two-year deal.

"Franco Baresi called me to play for Fulham and I have accepted his offer," said Benarrivo.

"I know that Fulham are also chasing some other Italian players such as Antonio Asta and Filippo Maniero."

The arrival of Baresi as director of football has raised Fulham's profile in Italy, and the club are willing to back their new found reputation with money.

Asta and Maniero have both been linked in the past, and the presence of yet another Italian legend at the club will certainly have an influence on their decisions.

Asta has been linked with several English clubs since emerging as the star man at Torino, and although he turned down a move to Blackburn Rovers, Fulham believe the combative midfielder can be tempted to The Premiership.

Maniero has seen his club Venezia relegated, and will almost certainly seek a new club rather than play in Serie B.
