Fulham's summer transfer activity is showing no signs of abating as Roy Hodgson ponders a move for 6'4 Alexander Madlung.
The defender is rated at around €2 million (just over £1.5 million) and has emerged as an alternative target to Croatia international Josip Simunic of Hertha Berlin.
Despite already landing the likes of Mark Schwarzer, Zoltan Gera and, on Tuesday night, Bobby Zamora and John Paintsil, Hodgson wants another centre back to compete for places at Craven Cottage.
It is believed that contact has been made with Wolfsburg in an attempt to discuss a possible transfer for a player who was previously linked with Tottenham.
The 26-year-old is said to be keen on trying his luck in England and coach Felix Magath could be losing the stopper from his squad if Fulham step up their interest in his services.
As for Simunic, the 31-year-old may now stay with Hertha after all as coach Lucien Favre indicated: "I plan with Joe."
